In the research seminar, the students learn to conduct empirical research with all necessary steps. This includes literature search, developing research questions and hypothesis, planning the design of the study to test the hypothesis, data collection, data analyses and interpretation of results, and writing the bachelor thesis.

The students choose a topic for an empirical research project in the area of personality and/or psychological assessment. They search relevant literature, develop a research question and phrase the hypothesis. They plan the design of the study apt to test the hypothesis, and conduct the data collection independently. They analyse the data and interpret the results. Students present their work during different stages of the project. Throughout the project, they will receive support by the lecturer. The weekly classes sometimes may be replaced by individual meetings in order to adjust the supervision to the students' needs in different stages of the project. Students are expected to take an active part and take responsibility concerning the course and the project. Focus of Research Seminar I are literature search, developement of research question and hypothesis, design of the study and start of data collection. Focus of Research Seminar II are finalizing data collection, data analyses, interpretation of the results and writing the bachelor thesis.
