Learning Outcome:

Students are expected to acquire and train the ability to deal with tests and test results in a reflecting and critical way, both in their later professional work as well as in their own research projects, e.g. in diploma or master theses.

Contents:

Students are expected to acquire the basics of classical test theory and test statistics. By easy to grasp examples, it will be explained how a test's objectivity, reliability and validity can be assessed and how test results can be tested for significance by statistical methods. Besides the basic assumptions of classical test theory, test construction, test norms as well as the methodically sound application of tests will be discussed.

Methods:

Lecture, including computational examples, practical exercises (study assistant); in addition, the basics of IT-based analyses by SPSS will be explained. All the materials necessary (including formulary) will be provided to the students by the online platform.

Assessment:

written exam.
