winter semester 2016/2017 | Last update: 22.10.2018 | Place course on memo listAcquisition of numerous methods stemming from clinical-psychological/psychotherapeutic communication, conversation and negotiation, as well as approach to self-chosen theories and techniques of conversations skills especially in psychoanalysis and students’ sensitization to appreciative and empathetic work with patients. Furthermore, the “sense” and intuition for one’s own “professional demeanor” as future clinical and health psychologists and/or psychotherapists, insight into clinical-psychological or psychotherapeutic practice, reflection of own Counter Transference processes are the aims of this course.
This lecture conveys various techniques regarding communication and conversational skills, such as active listening, paraphrasing, mirroring, questioning, clarifying, focusing, etc., and does so in the context of clinical-psychological treatment. Also the development for an “inner sense” or intuition, for “professional demeanor” as future clinical and health psychologists and psychotherapists is part of this seminar. Since the countertransference in work with patients acts as an important diagnostic instrument, as well as a meaningful effect factor in the treatment process, Counter Transference processes are explored in detail. Subsequently, the importance of the initial consultations are to be set against the backdrop of psychoanalytical methods (free association, abstinence, evenly suspended attention, scenic understanding).
Role-playing and video recordings of clinical-psychological/psychotherapeutic conversations shall sensitize students to professional consultations, shall bring the theoretical counterpart closer to the practical and should advocate group discussions. Furthermore anonymized psychoanalytic case vignettes are employed to illustrate the plasticity of consultational technique, the Counter Transference processes as well as the revealing the latent conflict of patients. In this way the direct reference to practice is established and should ease and solidify the learning process. Film material of psychoanalytical practice will be implemented.
Engagement, work on psychoanalytic essays, Video documentation of clinical-psychological or psychotherapeutic conversations, reflections and composition of a protocol.
