Students understand the significance of systematic project management and know success criteria for projects. They can apply methods for initiating, planning, implementing and closing a project. They know a software management tool and can use it for planning and monitoring of a project.

Basics of project management: Definition, properties of projects, success criteria for projects, project environment, project organization, roles within projects, phases of project management

  • Project initiation: Objectives, analysis of environment, project charter, kick off meeting
  • Project planning: structural planning, sequencing of activities, resource planning, risk analysis, project plan
  • Project implementation: Directing and monitoring of a project, change management, project documentation
  • Project closure: Final report, project review
  • Team management, conflict management, time management, presentation and communication, project marketing, acceptance management, change management, process management
  • Project management for software projects
  • Project management for IT introduction project
