The aim of this reading course is to enable students to read classical philosophical texts in a philosophical way.

We will read and discuss Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics and try to understand the structure of Aristotle’s version of eudaimonism. The following questions will be discussed: Is there a last aim of human action? What is happiness? What role does fortune play? What is the relationship between morality and happiness? What is virtue? What is the standard of moral goodness?
