222922 SE for Doctoral Students: Loci theologici: Theological Epistemology in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council
summer semester 2017 | Last update: 31.03.2017 | Place course on memo listKnowledge of a theological epistemology in view of a “theology of the sign of the times” (secundum Vaticanum II) as presented by the lecturer in form of a rough draft as well as of the respective current discussion on the subject.
The Second Vatican Council has an enormous, though in our parts delayed impact on the theological epistemology. It radically broadened Melchior Cano’s tradition of the “loci-doctrine” (see Peter Hünermann). This development has to be acknowledged and reconsidered on the basis of the latest theories on the subject (for example Kern/Niemann, Seckler, Beinert, Sander, Körner, Höhn, Ruhrstorfer, and Bauer on M.-D. Chenu). The analysis reveals that these theories hardly notice the recent philosophical development regarding the subject – especially within analytical philosophy. The seminar explicitly aims at a contribution to the conveyance of analytical and continental, of apologetic and hermeneutic epistemology. For this aim, the lecturer will put his draft of a “theological epistemology in view of a theology of the sign of the times” forward for discussion.
Discussion of the relevant propositions from texts of the Second Vatican Council and of the post-conciliar epistemological concepts.
