Learning Outcome:

Acquisition of knowledge about the legal fundamentals and the functioning in practice of the EU institutions

Contents:

This course covers the institutional structure of the EU. Emphasis will be put in particular on the core institutions of this supranational organisation and, taking Austria as an example, on the participation of the Member States therein. The knowledge about the legal fundamentals will be complemented by an insight into the functioning in practice of the European institutions in the framework of a study trip to Brussels and the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Methods:

Lecture and group discussions about central elements of the European institutional frame, study trip to the EU institutions

Assessment:

oral presentation, written essay on the same topic

Literature:

Will be discussed in the first lesson.

Remarks:

The number of students that can participate in the course is limited! Enrolment in person in the secretariat of the institute
