Students can discuss and explain the key theories and concepts of governance and political leadership, including the empirical conditions and manifestations of various political systems. Furthermore, they can compare and evaluate various forms and problems of governance and political leadership in diverse contexts.

This lecture offers an overview of the features and developments of executive leadership in Western Europe and the United States, including both the institutions and the actors that shape the governing process. Moreover, the overview shall include the presentation and critical assessment of the major conceptual and empirical debates and controversies in recent governance and leadership research.
