This course will investigate behavior in markets and industries. We examine behavior in markets using experiments and real world examples in both competitive markets and markets with imperfect competition. We will explore cases where (and why) standard theoretical models in economics are (or are not) supported bye empirical evidence.

Topics will include: behavior in oligopoly markets, evidence of collusion, auctions, and online marketplaces, among others.

Approximately half of the PS will include additional lecture material, discussion, and sample problems. Additionally, approximately half of the seminar will be a reading seminar whereby students give presentations of assigned reading material. 

Grading is based upon completed student homework based on material in the VO and PS. Students will be graded on their presentation, participation during other student presentations, and a short report on a reading assignment.
