Using case studies students will gain experience in statistical data analysis - using methods/models that are covered in the accompaning "Vorlesung".

Based on the data from the European Social Survey, students will be introduced to the design of complex surveys and their statistical analysis. I a term project student will work on a specific sociological problem, i.e. analyze data and write a short research report.

Following a methodological introduction working groups develop a research question that they are to analyze subsequently. Workshop session offer the groups an opportunity to discuss work in progress, plenary session will be used to present research questions and findings.

Participation in plenary sessions including a presentation of research findings (40%) and a written research report (60%).
