Facilitation and Presentation: Tools for study and business
By the end of this course students will be able to deal with five important skills: researching information, presenting, discussion, facilitation and giving feedback.
In this course we focus on five of the most essential communication tools necessary for university study and international business: researching information, presentation, discussion, facilitation and feedback. By the end of the course, students will be able:
- to research specific socio-political topics and to compare and evaluate sources;
- to present the results of their research effectively and argue their case in front of an audience;
- to discuss challenging socio-political topics with the confidence that they do not have to compromise due to language weaknesses,
- to facilitate effective teamwork by agreeing methods, identifying common goals and formulating team conclusions;
- to provide constructive oral and written feedback.
Oral work in class will be supported by weekly writing in e-campus journals and the discussion forum.
Dialogues, presentations, team discussions, facilitation, weekly participation in e-campus discussion forum, weekly reading and article reviews.
Continuous assessment of students’ class performance: motivation, willingness to experiment with new situations and language, preparation for class, progress in discussion, facilitation, presentation and feedback. Written assignments include formal feedback to team members, weekly reports in an e-campus journal and participation in the class discussion forum.
