433326 Business English 2: Communications management
summer semester 2017 | Last update: 06.03.2017 | Place course on memo listIn this course students will learn to see the parallels and differences between strategic communications for individuals and communications management in business. First, students will learn to position themselves through their communication skills and their self-presentation. They will learn to present themselves in various communication formats, such as face-to-face- meetings, online forums and by giving presentations. Next students will transfer their knowledge to strategic communications management in business.
This course comprises the following areas of communication:
*Interpersonal communication: Students will identify their own communication style and those of others. Students will also learn how to flex their style to a given situation.
* Strategic communication: Students will position tehmselves as future business professionals.
* Presentation skills
This will be a highly interactive class where student participation in class and in OLAT is key. This course will also focus on using new media. The instructor will bring in iPads to work in class. There will be in-class discussions, mini-research tasks, individual and team presentations. Weekly participation in OLAT is required.
