Contents:

We engage in selected questions, problems and methods of German linguistics, for example:

What is language? What are the boundaries of the German language?
What is the relationship between language and thinking, language and culture?
How do children acquire language?
How do linguists establish their questions and results?

Lectures, exercises

Assessment:

Written exam

Literature:

A series of articles related to the discussed topics is made available in the course of the semester.

None.

Part of the "STEOP".
Recommended for the first semester of the bachelor programme "German Philology".
