In this course we will concentrate on the technical jargon of economy, with a focus on tourism-related topics. While working with authentic technical texts related to tourism, you will have the opportunity to use and to reinforce the translation strategies you have already learned. Furthermore, we will deal with typical touristic phrases and the use of tourism terminology.

We will work with different text types during a virtual journey from Orléans along the Loire River to the French Atlantic Coast. The texts will cover topics like castles, gardens, “la mer”, foot-fishing and other leisure activities, culinary topics etc., all related to the mentioned geographic region. The common context of the texts is tourism.

You will have to prepare translation assignments individually and within the specified time. These assignments will serve as a basis for interactive lessons (discussions! questions! active participation! ideas!).

You will receive all information about relevant literature as well as worksheets, source texts, etc. (files, copies or master copies - any copy costs will be collected at the end of the semester) in class.

Attendance of the first lesson is a pre-requisite.
