Critical assessment of Archaic Rom (especially historiography and archaeological remains).

Introduction to Archaic Rome and the different categories of sources (e.g.: texts, monuments, coins, inscriptions). Discussion of the possibilities and limitations of historiographic and archaeological sources by the means of selected examples. Critical assessment of the research literature.

Combination of lecture, reading tasks and presentations of the participants

Participation in discussions, presentation.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
