The students deepen their skills in dealing with different sources of Ancient Near Eastern history. Ancient Near Eastern texts of selected topics in translation will be analyzed critically and embedded into their historical context.

Presentation and discussion of divination and prophetic texts: typology, diachronic and geographic distributions.

Reading of primary sources in translation. Additional required readings of specific literature listed in the weekly schedule will be discussed during the seminar.

Students are requested to do the weekly readings continuously, participating in the discussion sessions and asking questions during the lectures. They will receive a research topic that they will prepare, present and discuss during the lectures.
