The course aims at providing an introduction to Literary Studies. It will provide participants with a basic knowledge in different working techniques of literary studies (reading, extracts, research, writing, presentation, discussion). It also offers initial insights into issues and problems of Comparative Literary Studies, especially intertextuality, translation and world literature. The course »Introduction to Comparative Literature« is to be taken subsequently.
Lecture, discussions, oral presentations, group work, short papers.
Regular attendance, active participation in the lessons, assignments, oral presentation, portfolio, final exam.
