Deepening of competence in creating a scientific study (sources and bibliography; footnotes, etc.); knowledge in a practical source of work and in the critical-methodological reflection of historical content.

The Middle Ages can be regarded in many aspects as the age of the city. Above all in the High Middle Ages, many cities were founded and the typical image of the European city with walls, a central square or lane were coined. The cities themselves evolved into major political players and due to the manifold social dynamics they became seminal social formations. Phenomena like the guilds, fraternities, city law, town feasts, the social disposition of the city, the city as economic and political player are only some of the topics that can be elaborated on a global, regional or local level. Based on the topic of the seminar we will work out together the topics for the bachelor thesis and discuss and elaborate it throughout the seminar. We will work on the seminar topic via primary sources and essays and thus contribute to the individual work on the seminar thesis. The focus is on social and cultural-historical aspects.
