Basic theoretical and methodical skills in the field of soundscape studies; overview of relevant texts; basics in sound recording and working with sound material from an ethnological perspective.

In this course we will make first steps into the field oc Soundscape Studies and investigate the special skills of Europaen Ethnology in this interdisciplinary subject. After reading and discussing relevant texts students wil record exemplary sound files and present the outcome in the course. Together we will discuss their semiotic significance and the potential of Europaen Ethnology investigating sound material in general.
