Certain mathematical techniques which have found to little room in the courses on Mathematical Methods of Physics 1 & 2 despite of their relevance for the main courses on theoretical physics will be developed. A robust understanding of these techniques should be achieved that enable students to solve practical problems.

Tensorproducts; tensoralgebra over a vector space and tensor fields on a flat space; covariant derivative of tensor fields on a flat space (Levi-Civita connection); Push-forward of tangent vector fields; Lie derivative; Lie bracket of tangent vector fields.

Calculus of Probability: finite probability spaces; expectation, variance, covariance; law of large numbers; transport of probability measures; important 'P-distributions'; countable P-spaces; P-measures on R'n' with density.

Four lecture units of 45 minutes will be supplemented by two units with the students presenting their homeworks. Thus 5 blocks of themes will emerge. Thereby a continuous participation shall be guaranteed, necessary for a successfull learning process.

50 of 100 credit points can be achieved through home work presentation. Another 50 points can be obtained through the final written test at the last lecture session. For achieving a positive grade a total of at least 50 points has to be obtained.
