The lecture "Biostratigraphy" gives an overview of the most important guide fossils of the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic in the Alps. The participants learn to identify various guide fossils in the field and to use them for stratigraphy and facies analysis (particularly important for students who want to carry out a master thesis in sedimentary geology / stratigraphie).
Morphology, taxonomy, ecology and stratigraphic distribution of the most important guide fossils in the Late Palaeozoic and Mesozoic of the Alps.

The practical part of the course includes descriptions and drawings of the guide fossils by means of pocket-lens and binocular.
