The lecture Micropalaeontology gives an overview of the most important microfossil groups and their application in geological research. The participants learn to identify various microfossil groups and to use them for stratigraphy and facies analysis (particularly important for students who want to carry out a master thesis in sedimentary geology / stratigraphy).
Morphology, taxonomy, evolution, ecology and palaeobiology of palynomorphs (acritarchs, dinoflagellates), coccolithophores, diatoms, chitinozoa, calpionellids, calcareous algae, radiolaria, foraminifera, ostracods, conodonts.

The practical part of the course includes descriptions and drawings of microfossils by means of binocular and microscope.
