Learning Outcome:

Learn to know interesting research topics and basical methods to analyse plants in aquatic ecosystems (still and running waters) - from phytoplankton to periphyton, from aquatic plants to riverine vegetation, from field assessments to microscopy

Contents:

· Plant life on shores and under water

· Terminology

· Phytoplankton

· Benthic algae

· Fiel work benthic algae

· Lake shores – macrophytes

· Riverine vegetation (Field)

· Riverine vegetation (Theory and practical aspects)

Methods:

Lecture (fundamentals of plant life under water), work with key taxa in the lab (morphology, anatomy) with lense, stereoskope and research microscope

Assessment:

Written exam and working protocols
