Self ‐organized learning: Under didactic guidance and by consulting experts and their written opinions, students approach specific architectural questions by means of scientific methods. They possess the specialized skills and working techniques, including synthesizing and evaluating, necessary for solving central issues of their own original research and for defining existing knowledge anew.

In the seminar, especially historical and theoretical methods are presented that are relevant for a dissertation or a thesis in architecture, architectural history or architecture theory. Focus is placed on the discussion of methods and theories of the second half of the 20th Century, which widen the traditional models or question: structuralism, memory studies, deconstruction, neo-Marxism, critical theory, historicism dispute. The seminar is divided into lectures on the various methods as well as in workshops on specific work of the participants and their approaches.

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).
