Prerequisites: The learner can introduce himself/herself in simple sentences and describe people und things. He/sie has knowledge of Hiragana und Katagana syllabary.

Goal: At this level the learner can understand everyday expressions and simple sentences aimed at the satisfaction of simple needs of a concrete type; he/she can introduce himself/herself and others and ask questions about personal details - e.g. where they live, whom they know and what things they own - and can answer questions of this kind; he/she can communicate in a simple way if the other person is sympathetic and speaks slowly and carefully. Structural Goals:
nominalisation of verbs; “naru” - to indicate changes in quality; ”x ga arimasu“, “x ga imasu“ - to describe the existence of someone or something; participle (te-form) of copula, verbs and adjectives and applications - to connect verb sentences and to describe actions that continue and a state which results from a certain action in the past; ”kara“ - to connect two sentences and denote a causal relationship; ”toki“ - to connect two sentences and to express the time when the state or action described in the main sentence exists or occurs

written and oral midterm test (testing of  listening comprehension, speaking and Kanji characters) and final test (testing of writing, listening and reading comprehension and speaking/dialogues)
