Ability for deepened explanation of selected topics of economic and social history including a historically grounded analysis of the present.

Discussion of selected aspects of global polit-economic connections in history and at present from an economic and social historical perspective. Especially in focus is the explanation of internal and external factors for the "development" of societies and economies.

Input by the instructor, written PS-paper (country case study), presentations by students (of the study as well as a theoretical input), possibly in group work.

Crucial prerequisite for participation are interest in the topic, openness for an interdisciplinary approach and participation in the connected lecture.

Students from programmes other than economics, especially from sociology, political science and history, are explicitly welcome due to the interdisciplinary character of the course. In these cases, enrollment for the PS will also be possible online, but a later enrollment in person in the first unit at October 3 is also likely to be possible (admission subject to available course spots)!
