Standard Literature in the Educational and Social Sciences

Through systematic reading and discussing students will acquire fundamental skills on academic reading and writing.  Through the selected issues students will acquire as well an critical approach to classic texts on Education Sciences.  


 

Discussing and learning of reading and analysing techniques from scientific and philosophical texts of Aristoteles, Augustinus, Erasmus, Rousseau, F. Nietzsche, Pestalozzi, A. Gramsci, H. Arendt, T.W. Adorno, M. Foucault, P. Freire und Judith Butler. (aprox. 600 pages)

 

In this course we will comment and debate some “classic” texts on Education Science. The core topic is the analysis of the connection between society, education and political thought.  


A high proportion of active participation by students is expected.  Requirements for a course assessment  :  Presentation, discussion and debate on contents

 Presentations, active participation in  discoussions.   Lecture Diary.

The seminar texts will be available on OLAT at the beginning of the term.

It is advantageous to have completed M 4a previously.
