Language and Space: German dialectology

In times of (post-)modern mobility and communication, geographical space remains an essential factor of linguistic variation. Dialects as spatial varieties are especially in our area an important part of language reality. Within the scope of this introductory seminar we will thus approach the complex relationship between language and space by means of dialectology and will thereby focus on the German-speaking Alpine region.
