The students are able to reproduce deepended knowledge of a special area of German linguistics and can work scientifically and independently on a certain topic

The perception and / or the use of (spoken and written) language in all its forms of appearance (dialect, standard language, teenage slang, technical terminology, etc.) are always associated with “knowledge” in terms of –positive and negative – attitudes, stereotypes and feelings. This "social meaning" of language acquire – and modify – the speakers in the progression of their socialization as a social convention. The course addresses the dazzling communicative functionality of this phenomenon focusing on the diversity of the German language in Austria.
