knowledge and understanding of basic concepts of the analysis of written texts, their structure and function; ability to apply (text-)linguistic concepts to analyse texts from different social domains of life under grammatical, semantic and functional aspects; ability to explore a topic from the field of text linguistics in greater depth in the term paper.

This course provides a theoretical and practical introduction to the field of text linguistics. The course will introduce basic linguistic concepts of text analysis and the application of (text-)linguistic concepts in the analysis of written texts. In this course students will be actively and practically engaged in the linguistic analysis of texts from different domains of everyday life. Oral presentations and the term paper will enable the student to explore a text linguistic topic of his/her choice in greater depth.
