Knowledge of specific forms of scientific communication; insight into the fundamental issues, methods, and fields of application of German literary studies; familiarity with institutions and professional fields that deal with language and literature

This course offers an introduction to German Studies, in particular into special working techniques. Apart from that the course offers a first insight into various aspects of German Studies and their specific fields. It informs students about academic activities in general and scientific methods of German Studies in particular (introductions, reference books, encyclopedias, biliographies, databases, etc.). Moreover, regional and national public institutions dealing with language and literature, such as archives, museums, publishers, etc. and possible fields of works for graduates are presented.
