Broadened skills for exemplary analysis and independent examination of theories and models; critical handling of methods of empirical Communication Analysis.

The history of modern media starts about 400 years ago with the first newspapers. We will discuss this first phase and other key points of media development, e.g. the beginnings of radio, film and tv. Analyzing media products will be an important part of the course.

Discussion of different theories and models, sample analysis

Presentation, term paper

Will be discussed in the first lesson.

 

 

Recommended for 3rd semester Master Programme Media Studies and 3rd semester Master Programme German Philology. Students of Master Programme Media have priority.
