The aim of this course is to introduce basic conventions of good writing techniques. It is a pre-essay writing course in which students will learn to compose both well-structured and varied sentences as well as coherent paragraphs. We will analyse texts for structural elements such as unity, coherence and cohesion. Exercise types will include elementary paragraph production and summary writing.

The following topics will be covered in this course:

  • sentence elements and sentence structure
  • paragrpahing (unity, coherence, cohesion)
  • relative clauses
  • punctuation
  • subordination and coordination
  • summarizing

Communicative and interactive approach, group and pairwork.

Final exam and classroom work.
