Learning Outcome:

This course complements the lecture “Fiction and Finance: Forms of Speculation” and is meant as help in preparing for the reading list exam. To this end selected short texts from different periods will be discussed in detail also with regard to the historical context against which they were written.

Contents:

The course aims at consolidating students’ understanding of the development of English literature since the early modern period by conveying a detailed understanding of selected texts from different periods.

Assessment:

Participants will be evaluated on the basis of their presentations and contributions to class discussions.
