Critical assessment of ancient sources on sightseeing, tourism and travel literature. The main focus will lay on interpretation of ancient sources with the help of methods developed by post-colonial-studies. 

 

Introduction to the topics ancient travel, sightseeing and travel literature. General information about the field of study; with focus on a deeper understanding of post-colonial studies and their impact on interpreting ancient travel literature.
