Mediation resp. consolidation of theoretical knowledge; knowledge about the history of global history, about the current theoretical and methodological discussions and the realizations in practice; encouragement and exercise regarding theoretical reflection of history and historical science.

 The new "Jahrbuch für Kommunikationsgeschichte" is a symbol of the powerful meaning of communication as a historical factor. The seminar covers all forms of written and oral communication and the spaces where they took place: market places, churches, inns etc. We will read influental texts on theory and practise of communication history and will discuss some examples of historical issues and their description.

Reading of essential texts, presentations of such texts in groups formed of the participants, group discussions.

Course with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, readings are to be prepared in advance for class discussion, short written assignments.

Literature will be announced at the various units of the lecture.

For students of the curriculum BA History (2009), a reduced workload applies.
