The students get insight into the actual debate on the history of knowledge in European Ethnology/Folklore Studies ("Volkskunde"). With taking part, they are able to position  themselves within the current state of research and find their "own identity" towards their discipline.

The conference deals with the various national and international, disciplinary as well as political strategies, practices and alliances of knowledge production after the Second World War. It explores the functions and uses of this knowledge within different sociocultural as well as academic contexts.

A conference organised by the Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Volkskunde (SGV),  and the Verein für Volkskunde (VFV), Vienna

Venue: Volkskundemuseum Wien / Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art, Vienna,

Duration: 16 to 18 November 2017

The Conference starts on Thursday 16th of November at 2 pm, and ends on Saturday 18th of November at 3 pm.
