Review and advanced topics of mathematical methods used in astrophysics

Numerical methods and statistics applied to astrophysics problems: theory of distributions, principal component analysis, maximum likelihood method, Bayesian likelihood analysis, Monte Carlo modeling, bootstrap and jackknife, statistical properties of Fourier transforms, filtering, two-point angular correlation function, counts in cells

Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
