This lecture deepens students' engagement particularly with urban geography, but also social geography, population geography and the geographies of health, based on examples from cities in East, South and Southeast Asia. Students acquire an overview of historical and current urban development in the region and of theoretical approaches that seek to understand it. Furthermore, central challenges and potentials of recent developments are discussed based on selected examples of cities in Asia.
