Students acquire general knowledge of safe working methods in a chemical laboratory and of responsible handling of hazardous materials. Students are capable of applying stochiometric calculations and acquire practical laboratory skills in introductory chemical experiments on themes of General Chemistry. Students acquire in the laboratory course in General Chemistry interdisciplinary key skills in team work as well as in oral and written communicatiuon.

Significant digit, molecules and ions, empirical formula, mole, percentage of compounds, deduction of chemical formula, chemical equation, balancing redox equations, limiting reactands, yield of chemical reactions, concentration of solutions, stochiometric treatment of two and three component mixtures, gas equilibria, pH-calculations, weak acids and bases, di and tribasic acids, salts of weak acids and bases, buffer solutions, solubility product, precipitation reactions.
