This lecture aims to provide an overview of local, regional and global patterns of biodiversity in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, their causes and significance, and effects of global changes.
Definitions and measures of biodiversity; global and regional patterns of biodiversity and their causes; species, populations and biocoenoses in aquatic and terrestrial habitats: biogeography, requirements and adaptation: causal relationships and significance for biocoenoses; biodiversity and ecosystem processes (biogeochmical cycles, stability)
Semester introduction for all students in the Master's Programmes Ecology+Biodiversity and Environmental Management of Mountain Areas (EMMA): 2.10.2017, 10:15-11:30, Hörsaal G, Technikerstr. 25.
For students of Master in Environmental Management of Mountain Areas (EMMA) this course is the equivalent to VO in elective module 9.
