The students acquire basic theoretical and experimental knowledge of the FT-ICR mass spectrometry and atomic force microscopy.

  • Production, characteristics and applications of clusters and ions in the gas phase to specify the reaction mechanisms of organic and inorganic compounds are taught.
  •  New methods for determining monomolecular properties such as electrical conductivity, tensile strength and rupture forces are shown to the students using the atomic force microscope.

Practical experiments on mass spectrometry with clusterions and mechanochemistry by atomic force microscopy of single molecules.

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"
