The objected outcomes of the seminar entitled „Classical texts of social criticism“ are: the common reading of some of the seminal works of authors critical of society to be able to ask questions about views and analyses to interpret current events and debates.

Participants will obtain an overall knowledge of different approaches of critical thinking that can be used as tools for further scientific engagements (in various disciplines and fields of study).

Three blocks that look at „classical texts“ are built on top of each other and will look at, first, what the term „critique“ or social criticism mean. Secondly, we will take a closer look at streams of critical thought – Marxist theory, psychoanalysis, feminism, postmodernism, etc. Thirdly, we will focus on current important debates such as sexism, migration and religion.

Regular reading of texts and presentation followed by discussion.
