Obtain basic knowledge in bioinformatics.

Ability to navigate major molecular biology databases and to extract relevant data and sequences.

To address and answer basic questions in computational biology.

Acquire competence in applying sequence and data analyses tools.

Working with major biological databases. Extraction of relevant data and sequences, resolving of bioinformatics tasks and biological questions. Handling of genome browsers (Ensembl, UCSC) and sequence analyses tools. Identification of regulatory sequences and motif search. Analyses of gene expression data (clustering, classification, pathway analyses, gene ontology, enrichment analyses, regulatory networks).

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

A preliminary meeting for all optional modules of the master study in molecular biology will be held  on March 6, 2017 at 4 pm in lecture hall B.  It is obligatory to attend all three parts (lecture, seminar, course) to pass the module.
