Goal: B1+

At this level the learner can handle a substantially wider range of information than at the B1 level in the following areas: he/she can take messages, can communicate enquiries, explain problems; he/she can provide concrete information required in an interview/consultation (e.g. can describe symptoms to a doctor) but does so with limited precision; he/she can explain why something is a problem and can summarise and give his/her opinion about a short story, article, talk, discussion, interview, or documentary and answer further questions of detail; he/she can carry out a prepared interview, check and confirm information, though he/she may occasionally have to ask for repetition if the other person’s reply is rapid or extended.

modern life; ways of living; health and alternative movements; free time and entertainment; learning – lifelong learning; job profiles; ways of living; consumption today; holiday and travelling; nature and environment

Linguistic Goals:

to congratulate someone on something; to give advice in written form; to post something in a forum; to argue for/ against something; to assume something; to write a short text; to present something

Structural Goals:

declination and comparison of adjectives; temporal clauses with “als“ and “wenn“ - to express the temporal relationship between the actions expressed in the temporal clause and the main clause;  subordinate clauses with “während“, “obwohl“ – to make restrictions; relative clause - to describe people and objects in some detail; future I - to talk about future actions; verbs with prepositions; subjunctive I/ reported speech - to convey opinions/ statements of others; subjunctive II/ unreal conditional - to formulate guarded/ polite requests and to express possibility or unreal conditions/ desires/ comparisons

written and oral
homework, three assignment (final draft), presentation, written paper, midterm test (testing of writing, listening and reading comprehension) and final test (testing of writing, listening and reading comprehension and speaking/dialogues)
