The Second Vatican Council calls upon the Church to read the signs of the time (GS 4.10). The course will take up this impulse and the challenge of a "theology in the signs of the time" and discuss the question, in how far theology as a science can be possible.

Two discourses will be brought together: the question for a "theology in the signs of the time" and the question for the possibility of theology as a science. While theology in the signs of the time has been elaborated in various ways since Vatican II and the discourse about theology as a science has gained new actuality, the course will discuss, how theology has to be constructed as a science in order to serve both the church and the world as a "theology in the signs of the time".

The instructor will present a proposal which shall be assessed and proven.
