223931 SE Research Seminar Canon Law
summer semester 2018 | Last update: 21.03.2019 | Place course on memo listThe doctoral seminar devotes to the duty of the pope of the catholic church.
"The bishop of the Roman Church, in whom continues the office given by the Lord uniquely to Peter, the first of the Apostles, and to be transmitted to his successors, is the head of the college of bishops, the Vicar of Christ, and the pastor of the universal Church on earth …" (c. 331 CIC / 1983, c.43 CCEO). After the definition of papal jurisdiction at the First Vatican Council, the question of primacy was raised again at the Second Vatican Council. The post-conciliar popes have called for reflection on the ministry of the Pope, not least Pope Francis. The Seminar would like to address the question of the Papal or Petrine ministry in different ways, from the history of Canon Law, ecumenical issues, the relevant texts of the Second Vatican Council and the guidelines of the current ecclesiastical codes (CIC / 1983 and CCEO) to more recent considerations.
