They have come to see that children and adolescents are also protected by the fundamental rights. The students have also become familiar with the institutions and the legal basics of children and youth welfare and its welfare system as well as with the protection of children and minors including the children’s and minors‘ advocacy.
The Austrian school laws including the performance evaluation; private school act; act for religious instruction; compulsory education act; act for school organisation; supervisory school authorities; act for children’s and minors‘ protection.
Starting from the students‘ individual knowledge and experiences, active learning is achieved by a mixture of lecturing, case studies and situational performances. Several visits of schools and supervisory school authorities as well as of the children’s and minors‘ advocacy provide a practical approach.
Up to twelve participants the assessment is based on active cooperation, a short presentation and a final case study.
In groups of more than twelve students a written exam is required at the end of the module.
