Ability to discuss topics and results of the standardization of German.

Ability to select, plan, and handle digitization of historical German texts and ability to apply different methods of historical corpus-linguistic research.

We will work together on empirical data about the standardization of German, with a strong focus on the 19^th and early 20^th century.

We will deal with recent research questions and findings and collaborate to aquire and analyse empirical data.

Finally we will discuss the role and possibilities of digitized corpora within the Digital Humanities framework and, more specifically, within German linguistics.

Shared work on a research project from data elicitation to transcription, annotation, analysis and presentation.

Oral and written: preparatory reading, active participation in class, data analysis, presentations; short written documentation of outcomes  (VU) or paper (SE)
