Knowledge of theoretical 'key concepts' necessary for the understanding of 'écritures de soi'

knowledge of the most important works

contextualization of these works and elaboration of analytical tools

The seminar is dedicated to the so called 'écritures de soi' which prosper in the contemporary French literary field.
But the seminar will not concentrate only on recent evolutions but will draw attention to the changes and modifications of the 'écritures de soi'  across history.
Therefore, students will get in touch with important autobiographical texts (by Montaigne, J.-J. Rousseau, etc.).

Besides the topic of self-representation (in its more ore less traditional forms), we will concentrate particularly on the most important aesthetic strategies.
